| Dear Parents,
My name is Talmage Trujillo and I am your child's
Spanish Teacher. I have been teaching for nine years and have
enjoyed each one. Most of my experience is in teaching science but
Spanish has been one of my passions for most of my life.
I have very high expectations and work hard to help
each one of my students achieve their academic and personal goals as far
as I am able. I believe that students control their
education; they are the ones who determine and decide what they will
learn when they enter my classroom. I will act as their guide and
provide structure to the content we cover and their learning, but
ultimately they are the ones that learn.
We should all be deliberate in our actions. We
should decide why we do the things we do and be OK with the results that
our actions precede.
A student's grades are not as important to me as how
the student feels about what he or she has done. An A or a D on a
piece of paper does not tell me much about an individual. Some
students are only in a class to get a credit and then move on to the
next class. If this satisfies the goals of the student and the
student is happy with getting by in this way, I am also happy.
Others are actually in the class because they want to learn to
communicate in another language. These students don't always get
better grades or learn more but their motivation is different and I can
appreciate both.
Please don't take this to be cynical or jaded; it is
not meant to be, I just believe in being realistic. Over the years
I have been very successful in respecting and enjoying so many students
that had a great variety of motivations.
I look forward to meeting you individually.
Hasta Luego!
