Homework

Parent involvement is essential for academic growth in kindergarten.  One area that parents play a critical role is in the completion of homework.  I know as a parent, homework is time consuming for students as well as parents and I have taken that to heart when asking for your time and cooperation in the homework requirements for this class  Our homework is relatively simple and has a  minimal time requirement.  Each night your child will bring home a short book that you can read to them.  Please use this book to ask  comprehension questions only about the story.  As the year progresses and students learn more words, I will begin to send word rings home to expose the students to more sight words.  This will be the only required homework.

In kindergarten we use a very hands on approach and you may not see a lot of  worksheet type  of activities coming home.  For this reason, there is not make-up work required when a student misses school.  It is also for this reason that is important for your child to attend school as often as possible.  I try provide a fun and exciting curriculum for students to learn and practice the skills they are acquiring and hope that they will enjoy and anticipate coming to school.
