Just who is this Mr. Roberts?

I"m a native born Fremont County guy raised in a good farm family.  Thirty two years ago I met Debbie and together we have had two great sons who attended Canon City schools.  Steffan will be a Junior at Colorado School of Mines and Nathan, an avid soccer player, will graduate from Canon City High School in 2007 and probably end up at Colorado School of Mines as well.  I'm a husband, a father, an active and concerned community member...and, starting in 2005, part of the MVCKS Middle School Team teaching math.

But, is he qualified to teach math?

I believe so, as does the MVCKS administration and board.  I graduated from Florence High School in 1973 taking a full load of college prep classes before earning my B.S. Degree from Colorado School of Mines in 1977.  There I learned more math than any human being should ever be subjected to.  Since then I have added "way too much" education by earning my M.B.A. at U.C.C.S. and my M.A. from Adams State College.  I earned my teaching credentials from Metro State College with a major in science and a minor in math.

Yeah, but is he qualified to teach math?

If I didn't think so I wouldn't be doing it.  I taught middle school math at Fremont Middle School and math as a component of science at Florence High School.  I've tutored math students, including my own sons and adults, and have learned the patience and strategies required to teach all levels and abilities.

Does he have any real life experience?

Sure do.  I was weighing and selling apples on our farm from the time I was in grade school.  I helped manage a small business during college.  I worked in mining and petroleum for over a decade.

But why would he choose to teach math at Mountain View?

First, I like kids.  Plus, I like math.  Plus, after living in many places, I choose Canon City as my home, a place to raise my kids, and a place to spoil my grandkids (someday). Plus I think Mountain View is one of the greatest schools in the state!  You add it up!
