Third Grade

Third grade students should be:

  • listening and participating in discussions

  • reading independently and able to answer questions about what they are reading

  • responsible for their books

  • able to read a story and appreciate it's value

  • understand many library terms

  • logging on to the student computers and taking Reading Counts tests with little assistance

  • picking books on their reading level or picking Reading Counts books with little assistance

  • finding the author of their favorite book or books by their favorite author

  • using the card catalog to find books on a subject that they are interested in

  • aware that the library has a reference section and looking for information with assistance
