Comprehension: text-to-text, text-to-world, text-to-self Elements of Literature: main idea, supporting details, author's point of view, structure, characterization, setting, problem/conflict, action/plot/events, resolution/solution, theme, mood/tone/atmosphere, sequence Problem Solving: define and solve using reading, writing, listening, understand and interpret
Word Recognition: letter to sound, language structure, context Literature Skills: understand directions, differentiate between fact and opinion. Literacy Terms: figurative language, metaphor, simile, dialogue, scene, flashback
Word Meaning: prefixes, suffixes, pronunciation, derivations, dictionary use, use of other resources Research Skills: find information to support details, outlines, notes, conceptual maps, learning logs, timelines, documenting resources
