Introduction

Hello parents!

Welcome to the band program at Canon City Middle School.  My name is Stephanie Nolan and am proud to be a member of the staff here at CCMS.  I have been a music educator with the Fremont RE-1 school district for the last 20 years.  My career began as a vocal/instrumental music teacher at Washington Elementary.  I loved being at that school and even though it was extremely hard to leave I am now thrilled to be teaching full time in the area that is nearest and dearest to my heart, instrumental music!

This website contains useful information for you to be productive and successful in this class.  I look forward to working with you in furthering the development of your musicianship skills this year at CCMS.

Parents, I thank you in advance for your continued support of our Arts Programs here at Canon City Middle School.

With Great Enthusiasm!

Stephanie D. Nolan

Music Is Important to Life and Learning

I believe students benefit from music education because it develops the whole person,

gradually building music literacy while cultivating intuition, reasoning, imagination and dexterity

into unique forms of expression and communication.

MUSIC EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

We believe music should be introduced to all students as a lifetime skill.

It is our purpose to develop the capacity to find personal fulfillment

through meaningful experiences in music.

If the musical experience is to be educationally sound, it must involve

aesthetic, emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development.
