Marching
Band

A wide variety of music literature will be studied and
performed in a major parades and field show performances each term.
Fundamentals of basic musicianship, marching fundamentals and ensemble
performance will be emphasized in each class. The Marching Band may
represent FHS at the CHSAA 3A State Marching Contest held each fall as
well as other Marching Band Festivals and parades. All band members are
encouraged to be involved in an individual lesson experience to develop
personal music understanding, appreciation, playing techniques, and
musicianship.See Mr. Nolan for a list of private teachers. This class
will meet daily.

Course
Content / Objectives:
- To
develop a greater appreciation and understanding of music within the
student and the community.
- To
develop Individual performance growth specific to each
instrument, with special attention to improving ones’: Tone,
articulation, intonation, phrasing, and other techniques.
- To
develop Ensemble performance awareness of such musical ideas
as balance, blend, tuning, melody, and harmony.
- To
thoroughly explore and educate with all of the many different
aspects of music as outlined in the National Standards for
instrumental music education by the Music Educators National
Conference.
- To
develop lifelong skills such as discipline, responsibility,
organization, and teamwork that cannot only be used in music, but
can also be transferred to any field or situation.
