What Good Students Do:

  • Get plenty of sleep.

  • Come to school alert and cheerful, ready to learn something new.

  • Have an organization system at home to make sure your AR book, textbooks, assignments, band instruments, and anything that needs signed is brought back to school.

  • Make sure a parent or adult sees and signs your planner.

  • Have two freshly sharpened pencils and plenty of paper to start the day.

  • Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the school day; it hydrates your brain.

  • Don't eat candy or any sugary snack throughout the school day. It fogs the brain.

  • Keep good eye contact during lessons.

  • Do your very best on assignments.

  • Ask questions when you don't understand.

  • Only talk about the assignment during work time.

  • Only get out of your seat for a good reason.

  • Write down the assignment in your planner as homework if you don't get it done in class.

  • Read your AR book if you finish assignments early.

  • Respect school rules.

  • Do your weekly job to keep the classroom running smoothly.

  • Write any homework assignments in your planner neatly.

  • Have Ms. Neumann sign your planner before you go home.

  • Get a snack and get your homework done first thing when you get home.

  • Make sure you read a total of 30 pages a day in your AR book. You keep track. Even if you read 30 pages in school, read at least 15 pages at home anyway.

  • Notice the world around you. Great writers notice things that others miss.

  • Have plenty of fun, laugh a lot, and enjoy being a kid.
