Communication

There are several ways to open channels of communication within the community of learners and their families.

Classroom Newsletters:   Will go out weekly with completed student work samples, upcoming events, homework for the week, district news, and student writing samples.  Part of your child's daily organization responsibilities will be to make sure school information gets to you.  We have student mail boxes where all notes, work, and samples may be stored.  Teach your child to give you daily or weekly notes and work.  Here are some suggestions that may help you:

Have a specific place designated for your child to put daily work, homework, notes, or permission slips.

Check your weekly folder, this will contain vital information for you as a parent about our classroom, school, and district events.

Set the expectation that your child will be responsible for sharing their work and communication from school with you.  Take time each evening to ask your child about their day and to review any communication from school.  Don't forget to check their backpack!  Just in case!

Let me know if you are not receiving information!

School Cancellations or Early Dismissals:   Remember that weather conditions that occur in one part of our district may not exist at other areas.  Inclement weather may cause bus route delays or for route times to be extended.  If for any reason you are concerned about the weather conditions be sure to listen to the radio or morning local news networks for updated closures.  Reporting stations are:

KRLN 1400 AM or 103.9 FM

Local news channels KOAA 5, KKTV 11, or KRDO 13

Parent-Teacher Conferences:  Are held twice a year, this is a time to meet and discuss your child's success in school.  We may also discuss concerns, progress reports, and review work.  Because I realize parents are busy with work and family I will do my best to accommodate you as we collaborate to find the best time to meet.  It is extremely important to attend conferences.  For many of you this may be the only time we have the opportunity to visit about your child.  It is vital that your child sees us work together as a team to create a valuable learning experience this year!
