Dear Parents,
This letter will
serve as an introduction and give you some general
information about me and the first grade at Washington Elementary.
This is my 27th year of teaching grades kindergarten, transitional
first grade, first grade and second grade. My undergraduate degree is from
Western State College in the areas of Elementary Education, and Secondary
Physical Education. I also have a teaching minor in Psychology. My Masters
Degree is in the area of Elementary Education from Adams State College. I
recently finished my Montessori Training from the North American
Montessori Center, in their Preschool-Kindergarten Program. I find Early
Childhood Education and it’s relation to Child Development fascinating.
I love spending my days with the youngest of our students.
My husband of 35 years is also a teacher. We are both the products of
Canon City Public Schools, as are our three children. Two of our three
children are also teachers. (The youngest will be heading to CSU in the
fall-who knows she may become a teacher too!). Our daughter-in-law is a
teacher and our son-in-law is the Business Manager for Fremont RE-2
Schools. Soon my grandsons will be the recipients of the great things our
community’s schools have to offer as well.
I am very proud of what Fremont
RE-1 schools are doing and look forward to meeting all of you. Please
