| Allow me to introduce myself. I am
Jackie Geesaman and I have the honor of teaching your child this
year. This is my 24th year in the teaching profession and my 13th
year at Lincoln. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech
Therapy from Marquette University and a Masters degree in Elementary Education
from Adams State College.
My husband, Mike, teaches computer-aided
drafting and design at Canon City High School. We have
three grown sons and a daughter-in-law. Our oldest son works in
business, our middle son teaches at CCMS and our youngest son and his
wife are in the U. S Army, currently stationed in Germany.
I have spent all but one of my years in the classroom in First
Grade. I consider teaching First Grade to be not only a great
challenge but also extremely rewarding. I feel privileged to have
the opportunity to share my day with six year-olds.
You and your
child are about to begin a wonderful year of learning.
You will see your child develop skills in reading, writing, math,
science, social studies, music and art.
The best part is that you will be a partner in these learning
experiences.
I
will be sending you a weekly newsletter to keep you up to date on our
classroom events. I will
also be sharing various aspects of the first grade curriculum with you. Your child will bring home a Home-School Folder daily.
Please check this every day. It contains a Homework Log that will show you what the
evening’s homework is. After your child has finished the assignment(s),
please sign the log and remind your child to put the folder in his or
her book bag to return to school the next day.
There is also a place for comments on the Homework Log.
This is one of the ways we can communicate with one another.
Of course, you are always welcome to drop by school (please check
in at our main office) or phone (276-5830 school, 275-6173 home).
Thank
you for the opportunity to become partners in your child’s education.
I am looking forward to a great year!
