What exactly have FTA students done in classrooms?

A concise Listing follows...

When you feel that you are just doing the same thing every day and you are ready to try to provide additional support to the learning activities, then schedule a time to show this list to your cooperating teacher and ask if you could do more to help.  This list was made from the log sheets that FTA students turned in over the last few years. 

    Use this printable version and circle the items you want to talk about.

 Clerical:

Grading papers

Filing papers

Laminating posters and example student works

Recording student progress on wall charts and in grade books

Counting out materials for use in the next activity

Recording individual student assessments for math facts or spelling

 

Material Preparation:

Cutting paper to size

Making photocopies of the next worksheets to be used

Filling paints or glue bottles

Setting up for a science experiment

Setting up individual learning centers

Decorating a bulletin board for the next season or unit of learning

Making posters on assigned subjects

Taking some materials home to get them ready for the next day

Finding free materials that the students could use

 

Teaching:

Writers workshop

Reading to the class or a small group, then leading the discussion

Drilling with flash cards to review or reinforce learnings

Re-teaching to small groups

Reminding students to follow established procedures

Introducing a new subject or unit with the cooperating teacher

Supervising students at a table as they do guided practice

Reading with one student at a time

Going with the class on field trip day 

(clear it through Mr. Tarrence or Mr. Ritter & the attendance office)

Watch for students having trouble on new learnings and listing their names

Lead the discussion on a topic

Reinforcing school rules in a nice way to the students

Presenting supplemental art or music if you have a special talent

Special skits or plays or sing-a-longs relative to current learnings

Making videos of classroom activities

Offering to work extra time with students if you have time available

Helping to supervise students on field trips

Developing a classroom web page
