Late Work

In an effort to promote student responsibility, late assignments will not be accepted for credit unless a student is absent. If an absence occurs, it is the student’s responsibility to find out what was missed and turn in any work assigned during the absence within three school days from the return date.

Absences

You are responsible for all work you missed: See the teacher after school, during lunch or during the last five minutes of the class period: look at the class assignment chart to see what we did while you were not in class: get your make up from the designated area: turn in work assigned on the day you were absent within three days: any assignment that was given prior to your absence and DUE ON THE DAY OF YOUR ABSENCE will be due immediately upon your return.

Grade Scale

The standard team grading scale is:

100%-90% A
 89%-80% B
 79%-70% C
 69%-60% D
 59%- F

Headings

Every assignment that you turn in must have a heading:

Headings include

FIRST/LAST NAME, DATE, CLASS, AND PAGE #

Organizing Notebooks

In the left pocket keep your current assignment: All graded assignments go in the center brads: In the right pocket keep extra paper and extra credit: Your teacher will instruct you how to organize other pages.

Reading and Library

Your reading grade is based on how many points you earn by passing quizzes on books you have read. Bring your reading book to every class every day: read at the assigned time. Bring your reading folder to your teacher: Write on the checkout sheet the time and whether you are going to check out a book or take a quiz: Go directly to the library and carry out your business: No gum, food, candy allowed: Have someone in the library initial your reading folder: Return to class immediately: show your teacher the librarian’s signature.

Assignments

Work  needs to be done neatly in pencil or pen.  Spelling is important! Be sure to check your work.  Put your heading on the paper: work on the assignment for the class you are in: Do not work on assignments from other classes: do your own work DO NOT COPY.

Progress Reports

We will write student's grades in their planners every week, usually on Monday.  They should bring home their planners and have you sign them. We will check for signatures on Wednesdays.

Student Led Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will have a different look than they did at the elementary level. It is very difficult to meet with all parents of our 100+ students in the limited amount of time available. To remedy this situation, we will facilitate student-led conferences.

During the first quarter, we will train the students in leading the conferences using a student conferencing packet. Parents are expected to accompany students on conference night near the end of September.

Because the school does not schedule conferences for all students during the second, third, and fourth quarters, each student will bring home a conferencing packet and grade print-outs from each class for home conferences.

We have used this format successfully for several years. If parents feel the need for an individual team conference, we can schedule those upon request.
