Fifth grade is an exciting year for students. Throughout the year we will continue to develop skills and concepts which will enable the students to be successful in middle school, and in life. Students will learn to become responsible for their behavior, their academic achievements, and most especially their attitudes. We will strive to develop positive “can-do” attitudes through success oriented classroom participation and academic assignments. In my class, all students can succeed!!!!

Fifth grade students are held accountable for their learning through CSAP (Colorado State Assessment Program) testing.  The tests are given in February and April and focus on reading, writing, math, and science skills.  These scores are used as a portion of the Colorado State School Report Card, which evaluates our school’s learning/teaching success.

HOMEWORK

Students are required to read  30 minutes every night and fill out a reading log.  The students are assigned approximately 3 Everyday Math study links and 2 spelling pages each week. The students usually have a writing assignment, and may have science or social studies homework as needed. Homework is distributed each Friday in the students’ Friday Folders. The homework is due on the last day of the following week (usually Friday). To learn what homework we have this week click here: Assignments
