If I am not elected to this position, I want my name placed on the ballot
for senior Student Council representative YES NO (circle)
NOTE:
If you have not served for ONE year on the Canon City High School Student
Council and did not meet the minimum requirements of being involved in all
projects and of chairing one event, you are NOT eligible to run for Head
Boy or Head Girl.
I certify that under CHSAA eligibility guidelines I
am eligible to run for Student Council. I desire to provide service as a
government official to my class and to my school. Furthermore, my
signature and my parent’s signature below signifies that we fully
understand the following conditions:
1.
This is not a ceremonial position. It requires a substantial
commitment of time.
2.
There are tasks which MUST be undertaken during the summer,
including attending leadership camp in Fort Collins for four daysat the
end of July, beginning of August.
3.
Speech training is part of my time and responsibility commitment.
4.
I must plan and chair the Lock-In meeting.
5.
I must chair one event per semester.
6.
I must complete one project approved by my principal and my
advisors to improve my school.
7.
I must be available to speak on behalf of the Student Body at the
request of the principal and the advisors.
8.
I must be involved in all Student Council projects.
9.
I must attend lunch and evening meetings as called during the
school year. Missing two meetings unexcused WILL result in my dismissal
from my position. Poor planning on my part is NOT an excuse. For example,
“I forgot my stuff and have to go home at lunch” is NOT excused!
10.
I
have read and do agree to obey the conduct code as outlined in the
athletic/activity handbook because I understand that I am serving as a
role model.

Directions for
Running for Office!
·
You
can not run if you don’t meet the criteria and are not eligible.
It is your responsibility to check your eligibility!
·
You
must carefully read the agreement. Your signature and your parent’s
signature show that you KNOW, UNDERSTAND, and agree to ABIDE by that
agreement. You understand that should you fail to fulfill your part of the
agreement, you will not earn a StuCo patch or Awards Assembly recognition.
·
You
are allowed to campaign, but your posters must have an approved
advertising stamp on them which you may obtain in room 110.
·
You
must not campaign within the foyer area on election days.
·
You
must remove all of your campaign materials within 2 days after the
election. Failure to do so will invalidate your election! We are not cleaning up after you! Be responsible!
·
Those
who are elected to Student Council positions can NOT run for class officer
positions!
INFO
FOR YOU!
For
the past three years election turnout has been pathetic!
Often no more than 30 students from a class bother to vote!
Therefore, campaigning and getting students to the polls WOULD make
a difference.
