Welcome!
Attitudes
are just as contagious as the common cold. If all of us work to
make our attitude one worth catching, we will develop a successful
educational partnership. Even
though this is my 29th year as an educator, I am still thrilled
at welcoming a new group of students to a new school year. When I
am asked, "What do you teach?" I say kids. I firmly believe
that when we focus on teaching each individual student rather than on
teaching a subject, each student makes more progress toward reaching his
or her potential.
I
teach three honors classes: Advanced Composition and Advanced Literature
to sophomores and Honors American Studies to juniors. I also teach
Competitive Speech , which is a workshop class designed to prepare
students for competition, and a general speech class for the
students who don't wish to compete but who do wish to become comfortable
with public speaking. Both of those speech classes are available
to juniors and seniors for three semester hours of college credit from
CSU-Pueblo. In addition, I sometimes teach the Composition I and II
and Literature II classes to freshmen and sophomores.
Outside
of my class load I have coached Speech & Debate at CCHS for 29
years, and I have been the Student Council advisor for 15 years. I
continue to be heavily involved in extra-curricular activities because I
firmly believe in working with students to provide them with the
leadership and speaking skills that open doors for them regardless of
the careers they embark upon.
You
are welcome in my classroom any time. Your comments and concerns
are welcome anytime!
Sincerely,
Pauline J. Carochi
