Hi, my name is Jamie Boring.
This is my first year in Cañon City for the 2004-05 school year.
I moved here from Wamego, Kansas to take a teaching position in
physical education & health as well as taking over the head volleyball
position for the Tigers.
My grade school years were spent in Colorado Springs and Lakewood,
Colorado.
My parents decided to move to Kansas while I was in high school, in
order to be closer to their family. I attended high school at Manhattan
High and then proceeded on to Kansas State University to earn my Bachelors
of Science in Education with an emphasis in physical education. I played
softball and powerlifted at Kansas State. In 1984 I won the National
Collegiate Championships in powerlifting in the 97 lb. weight class.
I landed my first job at Wamego High School in 1985 as an assistant
coach in the volleyball and track programs. In 1987 I began teaching 7-12
physical education / health and took over as head coach for the high
school volleyball program. The highlight of my coaching career there was
winning three state titles in class 4A.
My dream of moving back to Colorado finally materialized this year so
here I am…teaching and coaching at CCHS. Also making the move with me is
my husband Paul, my dog Bailey and my two cats, Alley and Rudy.
I love Colorado because it allows my husband and me to enjoy all the
outdoor activities we love, including mountain biking, kayaking, hiking
and skiing.
I became a teacher because I enjoy the human contact teaching offers
and I am passionate about the importance of physical education in our
daily lives. I have a lot of enthusiasm for my work and I believe I can
make a positive difference in a student's life.
