Dear Employer:
Welcome to the Professional and Community Experience (PACE)
team—the school-to-career program for students at Canon City High School.
Without your cooperation, this training partnership would not be possible. You
will be receiving a Training Sponsor Guide, please retain this document and
review it at your earliest convenience. Enclosed you will also find a flyer,
which should answer many of your questions.
It is the desire of the CCHS PACE program for both the
employer and the student to have a successful and meaningful experience. The
goals are to equip students with new skills, abilities and discipline necessary
to gain a competitive edge in today’s job market, possibly launch them into a
rewarding career field, or even assist in the reorganization of their career
goals, while providing meaningful, dependable assistance to your organization.
As one of the first work supervisors in your trainee’s life,
you are challenged with the privilege of developing the work attitudes, habits,
personal traits, ethics and organizational strategies of your young charge. Many
of these instructions and examples you set will have an enduring influence on
this trainee’s workplace attributes in the future.
Your PACE student is required to sign a Training Agreement and
Code of Ethics, which outlines the major responsibilities of our team (the
student, employer, parents and PACE director). These documents outline the
standards you can expect. Your student is registered for high school credit and
will ask you to complete a job performance evaluation form once per quarter.
The CCHS PACE program is committed to the responsibility of
working with the employer and holding the PACE student accountable to their work
responsibilities, and would implore your support of the student’s education. I
look forward to working with you and assisting in any way I can. If you have any
questions, concerns, reports or problems (let’s deal with any problems early),
please do not hesitate to contact me at any of the addresses or numbers
provided.
Sincerely,
Mike Ortega, PACE Coordinator
