Hello,

Welcome to the Auto Mechanics Program at Canon City High School.  We have been a part of the High School curiculum for over thirty years.   I have been here only the last eight years, but during the time this program has been available to students, Canon City has consistently graduated competent people who are ready to join the job force.

I have been teaching for twenty-four years.  I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Colorado State College.  I also earned a Masters Degree in Industrial Education from the University of Southern Colorado and one from the University of Colorado in School Administration.   I have worked in the automotive industry in some capacity for the last thirty-two years and hold a Master Automobile Technician certificate from the Automotive Service Excellence Institute.

Students who enroll in our program should have a strong interest in things that are mechanical.  All of our students do not become auto mechanics but most do something mechanical later on in life.  Many become Mechanical Engineers or Service Representatives for large companies.  Students complete shop assignments during every class day.  For this reason, attendance is critical.  It is hard for me to recommend a student for a job entry position without good attendance and good work habits.  You should receive a progress report  about every other week.  If not, please do not hesitate to call me at the shop (276-5941).
